Ninety percent of moving damage happens because of packing, not driving. This page is about the ten minutes of wrapping that saves the crockery your family has used for twenty years.
Some customers book us only for packing — they have their own vehicle arranged, or a company transporter is handling the haul. Fine by us. Packing is a skill of its own, and we are happy to be judged on it alone.
The material actually matters
There is a reason we buy packing material in bulk and by specification, not from the corner shop on moving morning:
- 5-ply corrugated boxes for kitchens and books — they hold shape under stacking; 3-ply for light, bulky things like bedding
- Partitioned crockery cartons — every plate and glass in its own slot, wrapped first in packing paper
- Bubble wrap and foam sheets for electronics, mirrors, photo frames and anything with a screen
- Stretch film to seal sofas and mattresses against dust and drizzle, over a cloth layer so the fabric can breathe
- Corner guards on furniture edges — the first thing to hit a door frame is a corner
- Carry cartons with hanger rails so your ironed clothes arrive still ironed
Labelling: the boring habit that saves your week
Every box we seal gets three things: a number, a room name, and a one-line content note — "17 / Kitchen / steel dabbas + tawa". You get the master list. Unpacking then becomes a checklist instead of a treasure hunt, and if box 17 is missing at delivery, everyone knows within minutes, not after a month when you finally need the tawa.
Unpacking — the half everyone forgets
Delivery day energy is low and cardboard is everywhere. Our unpacking service opens every box, places contents where you point, reassembles what we dismantled, and — this part gets the most thanks — takes all the used material away with us. You are left with a home, not a recycling yard. Ask for full arrangement if you want wardrobes filled and the kitchen set up; it pairs well with a complete house shift, and for offices we run the same discipline desk-wise as part of office shifting.
Material pricing, without the mystery
Packing quotes here read like a bill of materials because they are one: carton counts by size (small for books, standard, wardrobe), bubble and foam by roll, stretch film, corner guards, partition kits for crockery — each at listed rates, each counted at survey. Labour prices per crew-half-day. This transparency has a happy side effect: you can trim the bill yourself. Pack your own clothes and books, let us handle kitchen, glass and furniture — the quote drops accordingly and nobody sulks. The only line we will argue to keep: proper material for fragiles. Cheap boxes are the most expensive thing in this trade.
How long does packing take? A room-wise guide
- Kitchen: 2–3 hours — the slowest room, always; partition cartons and wrap-each-plate discipline take what they take
- Bedroom: 45–60 minutes each — wardrobes into carry cartons, bed dismantled last
- Living room: 1–2 hours — TV crated, showcase emptied piece by piece, sofa wrapped
- Books and study: 30–45 minutes per wall of shelves, sequence-labelled on request
- The store room: unknowable until opened; every Indian home keeps one Narnia

Packing & Unpacking — Common Questions
Can I pack some things myself and have you pack the rest?
Absolutely — many families pack clothes and books themselves and leave the kitchen, electronics and furniture to us. We only ask to visually check self-packed boxes before loading, because transit insurance covers professionally packed items on firmer ground.
Do you sell or provide only the packing material?
Yes, we supply material without the service if that is all you need — boxes, wrap, tape, corner guards, delivered to your door. Tell us the home size and we will send a sensible kit rather than a random count of boxes.
How do you pack a fridge, washing machine and TV?
The fridge is defrosted a day before, dried, shelves wrapped separately, and it travels upright. The washing machine gets its drum locked or braced. The TV goes into foam and a fitted carton, standing, screen facing padding. Each appliance has its own small ritual — skipping it is how appliances die in transit.
How long does packing a full home take?
A practised two-to-three person crew packs a 1 BHK in two to three hours, a 2 BHK in a morning, and a heavily furnished 3 BHK in most of a day. It is faster than families expect — and much faster than doing it yourself over a scattered, exhausting week.
Is unpacking charged separately?
Basic unpacking is typically included in full-service moves when requested at survey time. As a standalone service — say your goods arrived through another transporter — we charge by home size. Either way, the price is agreed in writing before the crew arrives.
